  • Congratulations to the photographer for the winning image of the I-shot-it City contest! It’s a fantastic image, that is well executed and composed. The lines, shapes, and movement are all perfectly balanced in this composition. We liked how the shadow of the building became an abstract shape and took on its own life adding another layer to the image.

  • To recognize the connection between the alliteration of Praha on the sign and the row of children that coincidentally all look the same is genius. Ideas such as this are the essence of great photography – well done!

  • We enjoyed this fun visual play that is surprisingly convincing thanks to the tight framing of the image around the hanging banners. It really looks like bearded man has his body twisted around! In addition the image is well composed and technically well executed. Nicely done.

  • This is a very nice abstract architectural shot that wows with color and shape. The choice of the photographer to use a slow capture or other technique to show the sense of movement with the blurred colors was a nice touch as was the choice to show the image at an unconventional angle which also helps us read the image as abstract shapes first instead of conventional space.

  • Triangle shaped subjects centered in a composition can impart a sense of stability or even create a static image, but not when they are upside down! The photographer has created a very powerful and yet beautiful image here with the wonderful tonality and perfect symmetry. The choice of blue grey rendering helps pull the subject and field – bridge and sky - together making this a stronger more complete image. Well done!

  • Reminiscent of an old cinema still this image really grabs and holds your attention and creates mystery. There is no apparent connection between the gentleman passing by and the vendors, however it feels like they must all be woven together into a story. Fantastic capture!

  • Hi, my name is Tommaso Galli, i'm from Italy. Thank you so much for this! This picture is taken in the "Ballarò" a street market in Palermo, Sicily. It was a very hot day and that gentleman all dressed up seems to step in from another time. I take that with Olympus e-m5 and zuiko 17mm 1.8. PP with Lightroom

  • There were several looking straight up entries in this contest, and many well done, but this one stood out. The actual courtyard seems a perfect choice for this type of image and the symmetry creates a framework for the other elements to play in the composition. The sky echoing in the windows help create visual movement back and forth which activates the composition as do the birds seemingly caught in the center.

  • Thanks to the judge for awarding my shot with the "Mark of Excellence". I took this while traveling in a water taxi in Venice. The water was a bit choppy from all the boat traffic, but when I saw all those gondola's lined up perfectly I had to go for the shot. Extra thanks goes to the seagull who flew in and photobombed at the right moment. I did try to give it that vintage postcard look while processing it in editing. Thanks for noticing! :-)
