- what a phenomenal landscape and capture. this image could not be more perfect -- the reflection in the water, the stunning landscape, the crispness in the air, the precariously but perfectly perched subject, all in the most stunning light. expertly seen, captured and handled in post. nicely done! ~ illona

- what a fun image. you don't need to see the dog's mouth to know it is happy and 'smiling' ... just the angle of the ears and the softness of the stare make it clear that this dog is engaged with the viewer/photographer, making this image an instant fave. i can't make up the background of this image, but i can't escape the outline of a wolf in the white highlights behind this dog. i personally find it a little distracting, but at the same time, it's interesting ... so i feel it's a personal choice. you might consider toning it down just a little so as not to distract from the the main subject too much though. otherwise, a wonderful capture and great framing. ~ illona

- what a beautiful black-and-white image, and a super sweet capture. the wonderful variety of texture from the old wood to the stone, the scruffy dog, the straw and dirt, all keep the viewer's eye moving through the frame, but there is no mistaking the main subject of this wonderful capture. the only thing i would edit in this image is the gap between the gates, making it all black, for a cleaner, less-distracting background. but a beautiful image. nicely done. ~ illona

- what a beautiful portrait. the wonderful sparkling sun through the trees, the bokeh and distant splashes of purple from the flowers on the left, the Labrador retriever's happy stare ... all work to engage the viewer and draw their eye throughout the frame, but always coming back to the gorgeous subject. beautifully captured and handled in post. well done! ~ illona

- what a lovely landscape photo and portrait in one ... the beautiful snowy trail acts as the perfect backdrop for this handsome, alert character. my only suggestion would be to remove that one very close snow flake in the upper center that is causing something that looks like a flare, as it vies for the viewer's attention from the main subject. well done! ~ illona

- the depth of shadow and high contract in this image make it truly stand out ... the overall mood is wonderful, and the simplicity of the image allow that mood to be the main feature. the only thing i would wish is if that lovely spot of light falling around the dog was just a little bit bigger/brighter, drawing the viewer's attention to the dog's full body, not just those lovely ears. nicely done! ~ illona

- the storytelling quality of this image make it an instant favorite ... the bull terrier's restraint is evident in her posture and her intent stare ... her clean white stands out against the backdrop; even though the boat and the other background elements could be distracting, there is just enough separation through depth of field and the pop of her white coat to let her stand out. nicely captured and managed in post. ~ illona

- what a gorgeous image ... so many elements work to make this image a winner: the shallow depth field and beautiful bokeh, the subtle tones and wonderful white balance, perfect focus on the eye and the great catch light, along with the stunning model. nicely done. ~ illona
