The location is fantastic, a real natural forest with plenty of fallen wood for the wildlife. Get back here as soon as you can. Your choice for black and white reinforces the feel of the wild and shows the shades of the different tree species whilst helping to camouflage the deer. I like the out of focus branches in the foreground and the balance of the composition. You had difficult mottled light to handle, shame the deer weren’t in a brighter spot, but you have pushed the contrast (especially the blacks) a little too far for a natural finish.
