The results of the latest bird photo contest are now available to see here:

Bird Photo Competition 1 2013

We would like to thank everyone who entered this very popular competition. There were so many good photos it must have been very difficult for our judge to pick the best shots. The winning shot is one that needs to be looked at for more than a few seconds. Sometimes when you get an unusual angle you can capture something that is unique amongst many other photos, and stands out from the crowd, or should that be 'flock'. The winning prize was $865.20 plus Leica Trinovid 8 x 20 BCA Binoculars

It was a very popular competition with nearly 800 entries! We'd like to say a big thank you to everyone who entered this competition. Because there were so many entries there were many excellent photos that did not make it into the top ten. All of your fabulous entries took the first prize up to a stagering $950.40. The winner also won a Leica V-LUX 40 worth approximately $800.

Landscape Photo Competition 7 2012

February 27th, 2013  ( Updated 2 months ago )

Our landscape judge Duncan MacArthur has picked 10 stunning winners for the last landscape photo competition. The winning shot by Christian Bernfeld is minimalistic, but I'm sure if I took a photo of the sea it would lack the amazing dreamy quality that this photo has. I often struggle to get a perfectly horizontal horizon. Christian won $900.00 plus a Leica V-LUX 40 worth approximately $800. Congratulation to all of the competition winners, and thank you again to every who took part. The results can be viewed here:

The I SHOT IT Child Photo Competition is here!

February 14th, 2013  ( Updated 3 months ago )

Dear I Shot It members

We’d like to introduce you to a very special friend of ours. Her name is Lisa Alessandra Kutzelnig and you can see her website and her work here :

kutzelniglisa.com

Once we met Lisa, we knew she was the right person to help us create a safe and friendly Child Photo Competition at I SHOT IT. We wanted a competition that showcases photos of children doing what they do best – being children. It’s not going to be a competition for staged and airbrushed studio portraits, for children dressed up and posing like adults but for photos of children ‘in the wild’. It’s going to be a competition for photos that celebrate children and childhood in the way the Lisa does so amazingly well in her own work.

We have discussed long and hard how to ensure that we keep the high standards that I SHOT IT has set itself for this competition – and we will do this by ‘vetting’ all photos that are entered. I SHOT IT and Lisa will have full control over all entries and any that don’t meet our standards of safety and appropriateness won’t be accepted into the competition (any fees paid will be refunded). We won’t enter into any discussion about this as we have to satisfy child protection and privacy laws in many different countries – and so the judge’s decision will be final.

As with all I SHOT IT competitions, the photographer entering the photo retains all rights to and responsibility for it and the photo should not seek to exploit its child subjects in any way.
