The pier fishermen from a different angle than most of us are able to capture; from outside the pier. This gives the overview and a very good storytelling composition, with the moon as the extra story about dedicated and hopeful fishermen waiting for the fish to bite.

Thank you!! I am a keen amateur photographer living in Santa Monica. This photo was taken from Surfrider Beach in Malibu, which has a great view of the Pier. I was there for the moon rise but the fishermen stole the show. For a brief moment, the fishermen hard at work, the delicate, almost paper thin rising moon, and the rod poking at it came together to create a playful, whimsical atmosphere in which I would not have been surprised if they next caught the magical goldlfish to grant them three wishes in exchange for its freedom :). A fun shot, the moon and the fishing rod. This is well composed and exposed, it has nice graphical shapes and soft evening colours. It had trouble keeping in the top 10 beside the other great nature landscapes this round because of its dominant man made features.
