Well it was a close call. This is a fabulous photograph of lion behaviour and would normally have made a mark of excellence had there not been so many other fabulous photos of lions this round. Despite this picture’s obvious appeal and your own skill in seizing this action shot I think you will agree that the two lion shots which have made it through have the edge.
