There was a delay in announcing the winner of the last macro photo competition which will be explained later. We are very pleased to have some excellent winning photos to show you here:
Macro Photo Competition 2013 No 3
Heidi Westum from Norway won $542.40 plus a Leica V-LUX 40. There were 452 entries in the competition. Thank you to everyone who entered their photo.
Before Heidi's photo was marked as the winner, another photo was chosen as the winner. It was a wonderful photo of an eye showing the veins in the eye. There were a number of signs which made us suspicious that the person was entering a photo that had been copied from a website on the internet. With some time spent investigating this we did track down the photographer who originally took the photo. The photographer had a different name and lived in a different country to the person who entered the photo. We are very pleased to have stopped the cheat from claiming the prize, and we hope that this serves as a warning to anyone else who might think of cheating.
